One of my professors told me that not all of us from the MBBS batch will make it to a Post Graduate course, either by choice or due to various other reasons. He told me this 8 years ago and for some time I though I would fall in that unlucky/lucky group . So when even after a few attempts I could not get into a PG course, I started looking at other options out there. I noticed that an MBA can be equally fulfilling and there are wide range of courses in this too. One such course I was interested for sometime is the MBA in Health Care Management.
I believe there is a lot of scope for this career. I mean there are so many colleges and hospitals mushrooming in India. Also with the low Doctor to Patient population ratio in our country, this trend is likely to persist for many more years. Hence there will be a huge demand for Doctors with MBA degrees to work as health care innovators during this boom time.
A MBA degree can seem unattainable, especially if you are working day-to-day to meet the demands of clients, patients, employer and family. This specialized professional degree program helps you build your leadership and analytic skills while also building a solid professional network at a pace that is realistic and manageable.
With an MBA in Health Care Management, you'll have a good scope for careers in the following fields among many others that might come up:
- Biotechnology firms
- Medical device companies
- Health delivery systems
- Pharmaceutical companies
- Managed care organizations
- Consulting firms
- Government agencies
- Health technology vendors
